The SPAWAR Office of Polar Programs (SOPP) mission and related aviation support services include systems and maintenance support, ATC services, and meteorological services. Clearance Requirements: None Location: CHARLESTON, SC and ANTARCTICA --------------------------------------------------- Systems Support Specialist (SCLS 14170) Description: The designee will provide technical support and conduct preventative and corrective maintenance of Information Systems for the US Antarctic networks to include installing and supporting project specific software, troubleshooting software and hardware issues, and responding to, reporting and assisting in IT Security incidents, Assist in daily server and workstation checks. Assist with project installation, operational test and verification of software, and modifying and updating special purpose programs, The designee will provide support for system equipment hardware/software life-cycle support, Provide end-user desktop support, Install new and rebuild existing workstations and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements, Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups Education: High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Networking, Information Assurance, Computer Science or other IT based program desired. Experience: Three (3) years of experience, to include: Network Protocols, LAN administration fundamentals, UNIX and Windows based operating system, and virtual environments. Security + Certification is required within 1 year of start date. Desired certifications/experience: Completed the following certifications within one and a half year after assuming duties: Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) (Previously known as Certified Software Engineering Professional (CSEP)), or with COR approval complete a vendor/platform specific certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD), Microsoft Certified Applications Developer (MCAD), Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), Sun Certified Professional (SCP), Red Hat Certification Program (RHCP), CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), other). 115524
